ABOUT US
Our Mission
Ha-Barannu is a multi-purpose non-profit and tax-exempt organization aimed to serve refugee and immigrant communities benefit from English as a Second Language (ESL) and Citizenship Preparation (CP) programs, prepare adult learners, both US citizens or non-citizens, earn the General Educational Development (GED) or high school equivalency diploma, coordinate gifted 11th and 12th grades high school students from the City of Philadelphia and its vicinity to take college-level courses commonly known as Dual Enrollment (DE),* and provide homework assistance and tutoring services to children in grades 1st through 12th from Philadelphia area. The phrase Ha-Barannu is derived from the Afaan Oromoo, or the native language of the Oromo people of the Horn of Africa, which means “Let’s Learn!”

Students enrolled in the Dual Enrollment program will take Lincoln University of Pennsylvania undergraduate courses as approved by the English, Mathematics, and Humanities and Social Studies departments and all classes are offered at the university’s School of Adults and Continuing Education (SACE) Campus located at 3020 Market Street, Philadelphia PA 19104.
